Recycling of Aramid fiber

NorteFios works with the recovery of Aramid fibers (para-aramid), using specific equipments for cutting and opening.

Aramid (para-aramid), widely known by the brand name “Kevlar”, is a lightweight fiber resistant to high temperatures and cutting. For these reasons it is widely used in flame resistant materials (such as aprons and gloves) and bulletproof vests.

NorteFios carries out the textile recycling process of Aramid fibers using products such as ropes, gloves and bulletproof vests, recovering the fibers and turning them into yarn once again.

Due to the relatively high price of virgin Aramid fiber, and since the fibers do not lose their properties when they go through the recovery process, the use of recycled Aramid fiber becomes a viable and interesting option.

The fibers used in the recycling process must not have any residue of glue, waterproofing agents or plastics.

Some examples of materials that can be recycled:

  • Bullet proof vests
  • Nautical ropes
  • Filaments
  • 100% Aramid products

Quality and Efficiency

NorteFios is ISO 9001:2015 certified. The achievement was made possible because of investments in processes improvement and control, in order to provide a much more efficient product.

The factory has the most modern equipment to make synthetic and abrasive yarns, and has a team of technical professionals skilled in opening, carding, friction spinning machines, twisting and winding processes.

NorteFios won, on two occasions (2007 and 2014), the award as the best supplier from ZF SACHS, one of the world’s largest suppliers of transmission systems and chassis technology.
